Recent Raw Meals

Not very many pics this week, as I was terribly sick all weekend long.

Our chicken leg quarters have been kind of small recently. I've been doling out two for this reason on bone nights. With beef liver here.

June 2013 Spoiled Rotten Box Review

Over the weekend we received our Petflow Spoiled Rotten Dog Box.  Always love getting mail here!

The Goods

Natural Balance Chicken & Sweet Potato Jerky Bars.  Approximate retail value $8.99.  We received these in our March Spoiled Rotten Box, and they were a huge hit.  Good quality product with nice ingredients.  Like I mentioned then, this is something I might purchase on occasion.  I just recently saw these at my local PSP.  There they were $7.99.  The approximate retail price is the price listed on the information card included with the box.

PrideBites Wacky Steak Durable Dog Toy.  Approximate retail value $9.99.  This is touted as being highly durable, and safe for water and washing machines.  The information card states it can endure an especially ferocious chewer, which my three are.  It is made of a very durable fleece.  I am going to give this to one of my three, to see how durable it really is.  If it stands up, I will order more.

Clear Conscience Sliders TenderStikz Chicken and Beef sticks.  Approximate retail value $3.99 each.  We received a bag of Sliders treats in our February Spoiled Rotten Box, and they were a MASSIVE hit.  I will probably cut these sticks up into bite size treats, considering how much my dogs are willing to work for them.  I feel this is a great product with great ingredients.

Ark Naturals Nu-Pet Canine Supplements.  Approximate retail value $13.99.  This is the third month in a row we have received a supplement from this company in our Spoiled Rotten Box.  Seems like a good company, so I have no issues with that.  It's like a daily multivitamin.  Wheat, gluten, and yeast free, with "live phytonutrients."  According to the label, my dogs should all receive 4-6 daily.  They are chew tabs, and I have given them all one tab the last few day.  Surprisingly, each has consumed them with no protest.  I figure they won't hurt, so I will use until gone.

Superior Farms Lamb Whistler.  Approximate retail value $5.99.  I like this company, having received two bags of dehydrated lung treats in subscription boxes from them.  This product is a dehydrated lamb trachea.  It is not as large as it appears.  I would guess it at 4" in length.  I am quite sure it will be a huge hit with the pup who receives it.

I am pretty impressed with this month's Spoiled Rotten Box.  The fact that I am going to let one of my crew have a go at the toy speaks volumes, in my opinion.  Good treats, what appears to be a decent toy, decent supplement.

June BarkBox Review

Yesterday we received our June BarkBox.

The Goods

Dale Edgar Calm K9 Nutri-Wafers.  Approximate retail value $7.95.  Not truly a treat, but a calming supplement disguised as a treat.  Decent ingredients.  I have not yet tried these, but Faolan is in need of a nail trim, so I may use one prior to that adventure.

Butcher's Block Bones the Champ.  Approximate retail value $12.00.  Not something I will give my dogs.  These smoked bones are teeth breakers for any dog with good jaw strength.  I will put this in the bag to take to the shelter.

Puptato Sweet Potato Chips.  Approximate retail value $3.99.  Nice, simple treats.  I was hopeful for these, but sadly all three mutts turned their noses up at them.  I took them across the street to my awesome neighbors, where there dogs ate them with gusto.

Bowser Beer Beefy Brown Ale.  Approximate retail value $3.50. Gimmicky.  Though, I will admit, my crew loves beer, and I share with them on occasion.  According to the website, all ingredients are USA sourced.  Non-alcoholic, non-carbonated.  It is made from malt barley, and contains glucosamine.  The website suggests pouring over crushed ice, which is probably what I will do.

Whole Life Pet Products Tail Mix.  Approximate retail value $6.29.  I am a big fan of this company, and have purchased their dehydrated fish treats on more than one occasion.  This is my favorite item in this month's box.  Neeko, Bruce, and Faolan love these treats!  They are stinky, and the entire crew's butts hit the floor as soon as they get a whiff of them.  They are willing to work for them as well.

Overall, I am disappointed in this month's BarkBox.  If you are interested in ordering a BarkBox, follow this link to get $5 off.

June Raw Paws Order

Tonight I picked up my May order from Raw Paws.  I didn't order a huge amount of meat, as I picked up large orders from RPI and Rodney last month.

Approximately nine lbs of pork tongue.  I like these pork tongues, as they are nice size, chewy, and much cheaper than beef tongue.

Three slabs of goat ribs.  This is not something I will regularly buy (too expensive) but an impulse purchase this month.  It's a source of bone variety.  I will probably cut each slab in half, to use in a total of six meals.  I feel feeding my crew an entire slab each is a recipe for constipation.

Two packages lamb heart, each nearly three lbs.  These and kidney are about the only lamb I can afford to regularly feed.

Two rolls of Blue Ridge Beef ground green tripe.  My crew adores tripe!

10 lbs of goat spleen.  A great deal at $0.89 per lb.  I like to offer organ species variety when I am able to, and I couldn't pass this deal up!
