Road trip!!!!

On Tuesday evening last week, Les, Neeko and I made a road trip to Dayton, Ohio, to meet up with the fabulous Rachel Lauren.  Please visit her blog, rachellaurenphotography.blogspot.com, or website, rachellaurenphotography.com.  She is an amazing photographer, and was beyond nice.  It was fun to watch her work.  Hopefully I will soon have photos to post here, as she has already provided me with some sneak peaks.

Anyways, some silly pics from our time in the car.

It was well worth the drive, and if you are in Ohio or a surrounding state, I highly recommend her.

What I did this morning...

On Friday evening, I picked up this month's co-op order, from Raw Paws.  The meat, except beef tongue, comes frozen together in 8-20 lb blocks.  I have been breaking it down in to portion sizes all weekend.  I will put some in my sink, let it thaw for 12 or so hours, and repeat.  Yesterday morning, I broke down 20 lbs of beef heart, and some sheep kidney.  Last night, I broke down 20 lbs of beautiful beef trim.  The beef trim is fabulous, as it is mostly meat with a small amount of fat.  This morning, I broke down nearly 9 lbs of goat neck trim.

As one can see, this goat neck trim is mostly trachea.  Unfortunately, I ordered another block of it, that I still have to break down, for a total of over 17 lbs of goat trachea that I have to feed.  On a bright note, it was relatively cheap.

Tonight, I will be breaking down 10 lbs of sheep heart, which is currently thawing in my sink.

All for my rotten dogs : )

My Pet Carnivore Order

I picked up my most recent My Pet Carnivore order today.

I know it appears that I feed too much ground, but really I don't.  My dogs love the the Tripe Supermix and ground Green Tripe I order from MPC, which is what most of the ground is.

The ground beef pancreas is kind of a splurge, but they enjoy it, and it adds "other" organ variety.

Bison organ goodness...

I ordered 6 pounds of turkey hearts, something I have not been able to find elsewhere.

Duck necks.  More than I typically like to pay for bone in items, but my dogs love these, and they are perfect snack size.

Freecycle Haul

A few days ago, I posted on Freecycle asking for old or freezer burnt meat. A very nice lady emailed that evening. She's a vegetarian, and her roommate moved out, leaving behind some meat in the freezer. She only lives about 10 minutes away, and I picked it up today.

I received a rack of ribs, 2 pork roasts, some pork chops, and some ground venison. The pork ribs came from a small butcher shop, so I hope that they, and the other pork, are not enhanced.

Yay for free meat!!
